A practicing veterinarian is expected to manage disease across many species, perform surgery, interpret diagnostics, communicate with clients, supervise staff, and run a business. Students preparing for that career spend years in classrooms and teaching hospitals developing clinical judgment under real pressure. The profession, understandably, takes that seriously; however the software supporting it, for the most part, does not.
Most veterinary software started somewhere else. It was built for human medicine, or for general business operations, and adjusted for clinics to be close enough to be functional and far enough off to create friction everywhere. The workarounds become invisible after a while, which is part of what makes them hard to fix. Sticky notes stay on doors because the alternative requires logging into three systems, whiteboards stay because nobody built a better version, students carry paper because the digital tools were not designed with a teaching environment in mind. The gaps are not dramatic, but they are the kind that accumulate quietly and cost the profession time, accuracy, and training quality every single day.
I started DVMiQ after spending enough time inside those gaps and realizing that I had an obligation to help close them. The products DVMiQ builds are designed from that vantage point, from direct observation of how clinics coordinate care, how students learn procedures, how the externship pipeline actually functions, and what high-fidelity training looks like when the underlying model reflects real physiology instead of a scripted response. The goal is not to replace what exists, it is to build what should have existed already, designed for veterinary medicine from the beginning rather than adapted for it as an afterthought."

The veterinary profession has unique workflows, terminology, species-specific knowledge requirements, and a career arc that spans student, extern, resident, and practitioner. Most software treats these as edge cases. We design for them from day one, and we use AI where it is the right tool for the job, not as the identity of the company.
Operations first: The starting point is how clinics and training programs actually run, room to room and case to case, not what AI can generate. Documentation and other AI features sit on top of that operational layer.
Built from inside the profession: Our founder is a current DVM student, and our products are designed around direct, firsthand observation of the problems they solve, not secondhand requirements.
Independent and veterinary-focused: No outside capital, and no general-purpose platform adapted for veterinary use. Every product is purpose-built for the profession.
Each DVMiQ platform serves a distinct stakeholder in the veterinary ecosystem. DVMiQ Resource Management and DVMiQ Simulation share real-time and physiology-engine technology, and all four are built around the same veterinary-first philosophy.
A clinic resource management platform built around how veterinary practices operate day-to-day: real-time room status, patient flow, and team coordination. AI-assisted documentation, SOAP note drafting, discharge instructions, and digital consent forms are layered on top, grounded in Blackwell, BSAVA, Merck Veterinary Manual, and Plumb's.
